Bangkok Dangerous (DVD)
Typically, movies that deal with hitmen follow a simple formula. At some point in the beginning of the movie, the hitman talks about the rules or guidelines for being an effective hitman. These usually contain at least one rule about not getting personal with anyone or something to that effect. Next, the hitman either has a change of consciousness, falls in love, or both, which results in him breaking all of the aforementioned rules. As a result of breaking the rules, all hell breaks loose.
If you can think back to any Hitman movie, I can almost guarantee that it adheres to a similar structure to the one above. Bangkok Dangerous is no different. Nicolas Cage plays a hitman who is contracted to perform a series of jobs in Bangkok. As is often the case, these jobs are to be his last before moving on to a better life. Cage outlines his rules and his system for establishing himself and performing his job. He takes on a disposable assistant (read worthless scumbag who will do anything for money and who none will miss once Cage is done with him) and proceeds to plan for his upcoming jobs. Somewhere along the way, Cage falls in love with a deaf pharmacy clerk and proceeds to rethink his profession.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
After hearing about the pairing of Mortal Kombat characters (Sub Zero, Scorpion, Kano, etc.) with the heroes and villains of DC Universe (Superman, Batman, Joker, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, etc.), I was a bit skeptical. Capcom tried a similar pairing with its Street Fighter vs. Xmen and Marvel vs. Capcom games, which actually proved to be highly successful.
Capcom’s bright animation style seemed to fuse perfectly with the comic art of the Marvel Universe and everything seemed to integrate seamlessly into the 2D world. When considering the MK vs. DC pair up, it is a bit harder to imagine. For starters, MK is known for brutal over the top violence, while DC probably boasts some of the most clean cut, boy scout super heroes this side of the Punisher.
Unlike Marvel, DC has been relatively unsuccessful in its ventures into the foray of video games and the MK series isn’t exactly at the peak of its popularity. While still a good series, it is no where near the fighting powerhouse it was nearly a decade ago. So, on to the game….

UFC 92: Another Piece of the Puzzle
On December 27, the UFC will be one step closer to solving the puzzle that is the Heavyweight Championship. UFC 91 Saw Brock Lesnar defeat the legendary Randy Couture to solidify his contention for the unified UFC Heavyweight title. The other half of that hotly contended title comes down to a matchup between jiu jitsu technicians Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, whose own legendary status rivals that of Couture.
The splintering of the heavyweight title into multiple components is a result of Couture’s dissatisfaction with the UFC as an organization and the fact that he left them with the need to create an interim belt in his absence. Couture was widely touted as the best heavyweight in the world, second to only Fedor Emelianenko, whose own differences with the UFC practically rule out the possibilities of him ever stepping into the octagon. Ironically, Couture is no longer involved in the title race, yet his actions were the catalyst for the division between the belts.
So now we are back to the UFC, back to the quest for the title which, in all likelihood won’t resolve the looming question of who the world’s best heavyweight is, but will definitely answer the question as to who the best heavyweight in the UFC is. Which for many people, is all that matters.
